Dog Training Camp Company Info

For a long time, dog owners have attended classes, met one-on-one with trainers, or enrolled their dog into training programs with the expectation their dog would be transformed into a well behaved canine companion. More often than not, expectations are not met and these dog owners are back to square one seeking a better option.

Our Dog Training Camp, Neuman K-9 Academy, was founded by Josiah Neuman in 2007 with the idea that dog owners needed a program that provided more than just conventional obedience training. We called this training idea Boot Camp. This program is unique and unmatched by anything we have seen nationwide. It is an innovative program that teaches dogs to be well behaved in public places, to run on a human treadmill, to respond to commands under distraction, and to work as a team with their owner.

Our home and training campus is located in Hugo, Minnesota on 10 acres of pristine wood lands. We have a 3800 sq/ft climate-controlled indoor kennel area; a 3000 sq. ft. indoor training building; groomed walking trails, and 10,000+ sq/ft of fenced play areas. This environment creates a peaceful retreat for dogs to run, play, and socialize within the safety of fenced and gated areas.

To date we have received dogs for training from: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and internationally from the countries of Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, and Turkey.

Professional athletes of the NFL, NHL, MLB, and the NBA, have enrolled with our Academy.

The success of our board and train program continues to grow.

Summer - Assistant Training Director

Summer's passion for animals began at an early age and has only grown stronger over time. Throughout her life, she has gained valuable experience working with a wide variety of animals, including horses, birds, large and small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and marsupials. One of her primary goals is to educate the public about animal behavior, and she has volunteered at numerous animal shelters and breed rescue organizations to achieve this. Additionally, Summer has attended multiple seminars and workshops, including "New Perspectives on Canine Behavior, Emotion, and Training" and the Three-day Bedrock Training Method Course, to further her knowledge. She has also received various certifications, including Accredited Pet Care Provider, Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, and canine first aid and CPR, to solidify her expertise in the field.
Summer is a professional dog trainer at Neuman K-9 Academy, where she handles all enrolled dogs and assists in their training. She also mentors and hires kennel assistants and dog handlers to help them develop their careers as dog trainers. One of her most significant accomplishments was her role in the Working German Shepherd Dog Breeding Program, where she conducted extensive research on pedigrees, whelped and hand-raised puppies, and produced dogs that actively participated in various activities. She has even shown several German Shepherds, earning them national and international conformation championship titles.
In 2020, Summer established Aventure French Bulldogs, a small hobby breeder specializing in breeding healthy and active Frenchies that make great companion dogs. Her focus is on developing the skills of her foundation stud dog, Aventure's Gold Rush, with whom she competes in Barn Hunt, Fast CAT, and Rally Obedience. He has won multiple Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show titles in the AKC, UKC, and IABCA conformation rings. Summer is an active member of the International Association of Canine Professionals and the Greater Twin Cities French Bulldog Club.

Mya - Assistant Manager & Trainer

Growing up, I always wanted to be a veterinarian. My resolve only got stronger after rescuing my first dog off the streets. He taught me so much as a child and it made me want to know more about how to properly take care of my animals.
Instead of going to a big college to become a veterinarian, I attended Minnesota School of Business and graduated as a veterinary technician. However, after working in a clinic for about a year, I realized this wasn’t my passion and I moved forward in learning more about behavior and picking up training knowledge from friends and other experts.
I share my home with two dogs and two cats and occasionally take on extra members for dog sitting for friends. I play a very active role in their lives and teach them all I can for them to be their best. In return, I learn new things each day whether it is from my own animals or from those I help.
I am very happy to be a part of the Neuman K-9 Academy team. I look forward to learning all they have to teach me and taking in all the new experiences.

Jorden - Assistant Manager & Trainer

I grew up in North Branch, MN and graduated from North Branch Area High School in 2015. From a young age I knew that animals were going to be a part of my career. Before I came to Neuman K-9 in July of 2019, I was a groom for Arabian show horses and worked around horses for years. Dogs have been a part of my life since birth. Growing up we always had multiple dogs and other various animals running around the house. I bought my first dog, Rebel, an APBT in May of 2018. I have learned so much from her and continue to learn more every day.
I now live in Hugo, MN with Rebel and have helped other animals in need find their forever homes. I am happy to be a part of the Neuman K-9 team. Watching and being a part of these dogs' training is an honor and I cannot wait to meet each new boot camper and help them learn and grow into the best dog they can be.
